Richmond Hill Family Caregiver Counselling
Having a unmanageable conflict in the family is difficult. It helps to know someone who is willing to help with unraveling it.
It is not uncommon to find yourself in a position where you are caring for a senior or a family member who is ill. Family caregivers are flooded with the need to multi-task: being a driver, caretaker, organizer, breadwinner and health navigator etc. The juggling can be exhausting and not to mention overwhelming. There may be a great deal of guilt when you think of spending time on yourself or when leaving your loved one alone while you complete household tasks.
This feeling of exhaustion while caring for someone is called compassion fatigue. Compassion fatigue occurs when it is harder to empathize with the person you are caring for and it also becomes more difficult when you are unable to prioritize your own care. You do not have to be a caregiver on your own. You can seek support with a therapist who is experienced with caregiving and who can understand what you are going through.
